September Gallery Exhibition

Visceral Beauty frontVisceral Beauty back

We are pleased to announce our latest exhibition, Visceral Beauty.  We have partnered with Fraction Gallery inside Oracle (downstairs in our building) to present new pieces from Scribe and Alisa Ross.  The Kansas City couple will be presenting sculptures, installation, drawings and paintings.

Both artists have shown their work in Windhorse Gallery in the past and have wowed us with their unique vision of a macabre fairy tale world inhabited animals that blur the lines between eery and adorable.  Their work is executed with masterful craftsmanship and is among the most well-recognized in our city.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all at the opening, but if you can’t make it this show will run through the end of September.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the gallery this spring to see 10,000 EYES: A VISIONARY EXHIBITION.  In case you haven’t seen it yet, it will be up for another few weeks. Regular gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 12:00-6.IMG_9969

Our next exhibition is on it’s way….heavy (heavier!) geometry themes for all!

Thank you to everyone who has expressed their concerns for Mark and Carrie, who experienced the earthquake in Nepal while they were there for the International Nepal Tattoo Convention.  We are so relieved they returned home safely.  In an effort to help provide aid to the Nepalese people whose world has been turned upside down, Mark has started an initiative to tattoo small (palm-sized) images of Nepalese or Buddhist imagery, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to relief efforts in Nepal.  Please email or call the studio for more information.

Chinese New Year – January 31, 2014

The Year of the Snake is coming to an end! Join us in welcoming the Year of the Horse, on Chinese New Year’s day, January 31st.

Year of the Wood Horse-

“In Chinese astrology, the Horse is a sign marked by energy, action and a general optimism in life. When associated with an element like Wood, all these traits take on a deeper and more humane attitude. This is because Wood according to Chinese astrology is believed to make a sign more philosophical as well as compassionate in nature.” –, visit for a longer overview, or walk to your local library.

As always, this marks our 4th studio anniversary, and we’re turning this into a full blown celebration at the studio! We’ll have a better run down of artists and events planned as we near the 31st!

Mark Galloway takes part in Nelson-Atkins Exhibit!

By | Art

We’re happy to announce that Mark G. has been feverishly working away on a new collaborative art project opening at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art!

The project is the vision from Asheer Akram, local artist and metalsmith, building a fully working and drivable Pakistani Cargo Truck. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Akram’s Pakistani Cargo Truck Initiative has been an impressive undertaking over this past year, with Mark Galloway lending his painting and artistic skills as part of a mural to adorn the truck.

The opening is featured alongside other artists of Pakistani descent, as part of the Nelson-Atkins’ “Echos” Islamic Art and Contemporary Artists exibition.

Originally planned as a soft opening, the Cargo Truck will be unveiled this evening, August 27th at 7pm, on the northern side of the Nelson-Atkins Museum, and on display for 3 months before touring the country.

You can read more on Asheer at his site,, and a great interview about this project at The Pitch’s site.
